Welcome to The Obtainery.

A Trashion Re-Fashion

The Obtainery collects your discarded and unloved items, saves them from landfill by up-cycling and re-purposing into wearable art.

Kick it off with fabrication, add a colossal splash of glitter, a cacophony of music and monstrous squeeze of gin... Stir vigorously and you have; ‘Trashion”

With a driving passion to create with sustainability in mind, these characters are brought to life by the letters O.M.G.

‘ O’ for The Obtainery. ‘M’ for Mojo and ‘G’ for Gosh what can I do with this ?

Formerly of the Asylum Dollz, Janelle Dollery has gone solo and now creates as the ‘The Obtainery’.

Maintaining the spirit of multidisciplinary techniques, each character is a mix of learnt skills, new challenges and experiments… a lot of experiments. You can often find The Obtainery knee deep in fabric, glue, shiny things loud tunes and something that looks useful.

Donated curtains, things from nanas old sewing box, car bits, snake sheds, acquisitions from the kerbside and left over renovation hardware are just some of the things you will find lurking in random design concepts of The Obtainery costumes.

Driven by mythology, nature and music - the end result being a complex woven story of life, experiences and aspirations.

The Obtainery draws inspiration from Tim Burton, Alexander McQueen, JP Gaultier and Colleen Atwood; those who push the boundaries of street, stage and costume design. Like these gurus, each piece produced is a mix of strength, whimsy theatrics and musical soundtracks just waiting to break out and co exist amongst us mere mortals.

Like the toys that come alive at night, these are the characters created from stuff you throw away.
